How’s the What Fun For Whom Now?

How’s the internet fun for me on my mobile? OH. So that’s what you’re asking me. Let me get akin to my seat and answer your question most excitedly, my good sir.

FunTip#1

I live in a hostel; a law school campus to be precise; a land where the actual internet connection is almost never functioning. Thank goodness for mobile internet services because studying law is one of the most information seeking aspects of life and if not for access to a search engine with the click of a button on my phone, I would have been dead and gone by now.

There are times when I’m standing in a courtroom and I need a case on my fingertips to prove that the other party is simply screwing around; that IS an idea of fun honestly! (to each one his own!) and that’s when I can log onto the internet without anyone noticing, and figure some witty statement out, to make the judge irk a smile. (And that in turn is fun because it fetches me marks!)

FunTip#2

Law is not all that we study; we do hang out as well. My passion, or reflex action to be specific, is Googling things. It’s a habit, hobby, obsession even. Once, we were a group of about six waiting to be served at Mocha. The party was almost silent in the dead of the afternoon heat and to lighten things up, my fingers clicked at the mobile, typing the word ‘hookah’ in.

The day just took OFF after that, ricocheting into oblivion as pass after pass was made at all the ridiculous names that hookah has in different countries, how it was begun, the people that smoked it earlier on, jokes associated with it, and all that.

And not just that, it’s fun to sometimes sit and key in each other’s names on a website called Urban dictionary which provides modern day meanings to the most random of words. Little did you know that Raj actually is a Scottish term for someone going crazy with rage :P Oh we were cracking at one of our friend’s name: Abhishekh, which for very dirty reasons I’m not going to disclose here!

FunTip#3

Being an adorer of my acoustic guitar, life is complete when I’m able to find out chords and tabs for songs that I suddenly have a craving to play in the middle of the night. Who’s going to bother switching on the laptop then, the mobile’s there, the internet’s there, it’s FUN! And if I’m loud and good enough, I know there will be people in other rooms crooning to my music and enjoying themselves too!

FunTip#4

Somewhere down the line, if you’re stuck with some young toddlers that may be your cousins, kids or nephews and nieces, jut hand over your mobile, put on a game on the internet and keep them occupied and shut for hours on end while you enjoy the rest of your day and be loved reciprocally! :P

So yes, that’s how the internet on my mobile’s not just fun for me. Its fun for everyone around me!

How To Choose …

  • A career
  • A bra
  • A microwave oven
  • A laptop
  • A life partner
  • A company name

I do this often when I’m chilling out with my laptop and want the world to just shut itself up. Today, I realised the humour I was trying to seek. These mentioned above were some of the highest chosen results on Google for “How To Choose ..”

A career, I understand, you can find a number of aptitude tests and things like that that make your mind go whizz and can occupy you for a couple of hours, looking at different options, jumping from website to website, going through brochures, getting excited looking at interesting institutions.

A bra? At first sounded funny, but then I came to terms with the fact that well, hello, you can check out different types and kinds and colours and well, you get the point. But even then, why would you want to choose a bra online is really weird. Unless they don’t have a Victoria’s Secret outlet in your country.

A microwave oven. A laptop. Not encroaching there.

A Life Partner?!!!! Hahahaha! Couldn’t stop laughing at that one, but seems like there are about 42 million people out there who’re desperately clawing on their own nails and typing this out on the text box of a search engine, than actually going out there and trying to look for someone!

As for a company name, if you want something hip and funky, come to me.

Reliving Odyssey 5.0

I had a dream.

Oodler and I were thriving on stage, singing some funky Doors song with the crowd going completely wild. I’ve never sounded better on the mic. What’s more, Odyssey seemed like something we literally ruled. I guess, it helps being a senior and having a way with music.

Dreams are a part of your subconscious where everything either happens in accordance to your whims, or absolutely not. And here, it seemed like every member of the faculty wanted me to send in reports, coordinate events, and be treated like a VIP.

Everyone knew me, our uniforms looked radical. Although, there really wasn’t anyone I knew out there. And it was kinda said and done that we’d won the music competition what with the amount of encores we received.

There were no snooty schools involved anywhere. Everything worked just fine.

How, I wish.

Informatics Ahoy!

Really, don’t become an addicted blogger like me. What I need now is like GPRS on the go or something. Wait, an e-book reader + wordpress widget for the road! Thoughts come out, and it makes me restless having to wait till the end of the day till I get back home to my desktop. I browsed through the Vaio netbook series, but they’re not worth it. I can’t work with a teeny-tiny precious looking 3-hour battery lasting shiny notebook.

And I was under the impression that I’d left math some six months ago. So it wasn’t really appaling when I got a little freaked looking at this during the IP test today:

(i) Write the corresponding Java expressions for the following mathematical expressions:

1. √a²+b² – 2c + eª
2. [ |a-2b| / b²] * 2c

Also, this looks equally creepy, but it’s not that bad:

(h) Find the value of the expressions, given the following declarations:
Boolean result;
short a=100, b=200, c=300;
(1) result= c-2*b<0 || (c+400)<2*b;
(2) result= (a+100==b) && (a+b==c) || (a+b<c)

And anyway, my butt began hurting real bad after an hour, so I just decided to walk out, after a hell lot of shifting here and there and switching sides. Because then the invigilator got suspicious, and I felt like telling her that the others were solving math papers, I REALLY wouldn’t be able to help them in ANY way! (Math and me = *chuckles to self*)

I bought my French text books today and thank the demi-gods I had them, because Syd, you’ve GOT to learn how to be punctual, mate. Every time!! Also, the front seat in the battered up car suits you, very art-ish.

Here’s a special mention about Jabran’s song Chal Diye. Which finally, he’s got recorded. And it’s KICKASS. Unfortunately, you can’t hear it now, because he won’t release it publicly until he gets the copyrights. *feels exclusive*. But very rocki-ish, like the version we sang at Odyssey.

And I’ll give you the link soon when he gives it the okay, because trust me it’s worth listening to! :) Pa, I know you’re reading this. You *could* comment you know, I’m not gonna say anything :P

So what are you guys upto?

Pop Lock n’ Do It!

This is for Nagarjun, (there, I said it!),  who danced during Odyssey Grooves.

Odyssey_Grooves

It’s nothing much, just the song you got me SO hooked on to. And if you’re reading this, apart from getting back to me, you ought to know you’ve made me fall in love with dancing all over again. Jeez N, you danced thrice on that song, and all I want to do when I hear this song, is dance with you.

And that one step towards the end, with your hands up, “I love the way you wind it girl, the way you pop lock n’ do it..” MADE ME MELT. *goes pink*

I have, to the nth degree, completely lost my mind. So erm, once, ONE dance is all I ask for. And I wanna learn those haaawwwt moves too ^_^

A Zillion Apologies

You know those days when things go quite well, but then you just can’t help feeling sorry for the events that occurred? Like, everything was fine, ‘good’ even. But you just feel an offering of remorse, sarcastically speaking of course, for the subjects?

Well here’s a mixed atonement:

  • I’m sorry about not mentioning That Guy in the blog post entitled “Experiencing The Next Level.” During the fest, when Pallavi and myself were on the road scouring for passes for the fashion show whilst getting wet in the rain, That Guy was nice enough to notice us, stand under a shade and then say, “Hey girls, why’re you getting wet?! Here, *fishes out two bright, shiny, new passes from his trouser pocket* take these, and go enjoy yourselves inside! *winks*” After which followed seven seconds of me staring at Pallavi and vice versa in utter disbelief, and the security guard shushing us inside the auditorium.
I was grinning like a maniac and couldn’t control my excitement. And in that rush, completely forgot about asking That Guy who he was.
And now, I don’t even think I’ll recognize him anymore. He was kinda cute too.
    (Honest apology!)
  • I’m sorry for putting Pallavi and myself through the whole hookah torture today! Yeah, right! Even though our noses just weren’t being able to control the gazillion little sniffles that wanted to pass through because of the horrible cheap coal smoke that the disgustingly flavoured hookah being taken at Camellia was emitting, at the meeting today, we just had to sit there, nod our heads at the right moments and smile at each other once in a while even though we were a wee bit too clueless.
Oh right, the Kinesis prom, “Kyros” is coming up soon in September, if you’re interested, give me a buzz and I’ll give you the passes :)
  • I’m sorry about the whole panicky excitement that I caused during the Debating Matters Test today, lol.
  • I’m sorry to myself, to have actually been intrigued by a blog that captioned “Spotted: Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.” Because I actually went ahead and clicked the link.
  • Further apologies to myself, because after reaching that blog, I clicked links that transported me to yet another blog where people post there desperate letters to the supposed vampire imitator. Oh my, the things they write. A little preview if you’re willing to faint at your own cost:” Dear Rob,

No matter who you might be at a hotel with. Or what you might be doing there (playing UNO & drinking margs?), I’ll forgive you for not being with me if you promise to look at me like this next time I come across you: (there’s a video of him dazzling and looking like a puppy dog*(Since I hear the sound of harps playing when I think of this moment in time, I’d prefer our soundtrack to be with a harpist instead of a piano)
Love,
UnintendedChoice”

  • Honestly.
  • I’m sorry to have drunk all that ICED tea. Despite my knowing that it would cause my weak lungs a whole lot of harm. *grins*
  • I’m sorry to have grinned at that earlier statement.
  • *grins again*
  • I’m feeling sorry for the Upturned Collars that I came across today. The *amount* I laughed at them. I still can’t stop laughing at their stupidity and nonchalance towards the fact that they think they’re the epitome of “Bloody wicked!”
  • I feel sorry for Kindle, because they didn’t get back to me, and thus haven’t been able to include my work for the fiction section of their upcoming book, Intersections.
    Freeeeaks.

I’ll be back when I feel I’ve got more to feel acknowledgement for!

Mundane Mondays

Before I could even catch a few winks after a little round of Percy Jackson last night, it was time to get up all over again. Aaaah, how I completely detest Mondays. Especially today. You tell me, is 6:30 am anything close to alien?!

Yet, I mustered all the morning strength I possessed, and somehow made it early in time to school to make the outside board. Now, every class gets delegated the duty to base the soft boards on some theme or the other. And August was XI C1, and we split into groups, and made a complete mess. Although, I did all the work I could/was interested in doing. Why should I waste my time listening to other’s broken heart-laments!?

Anyway, accountancy was used up doing the boards. Break, I was here and there. I was pretty off-shoot today, kinda missing the fest fun.

Even though, and this I GOT to mention, last year’s Odyssey was WAAAY better than this year’s. Oh yeah, this year, only fun because I was in the eleventh grade, and I made good friends. Thassal.

So yeah, Economics, I didn’t have my graph book as usual. Which reminds me, I’ve got to buy one. Two, now, they’ve really moved on with the bar/pie diagrams. “Please spare me Mrs. R,” how I ADORE her. =]

What after that? Oh yeah. Double entrepreneurship. Uhh. I was practically falling off my already uncomfortable seat. And I hate the smell of the fashion studies lab where we have our classes. I was going to PUKE today. At least Sunayan kept texting me during class, so I was kinda o-k.

Short recess again. Which I spent trying to pick out the decent tasting cucumbers from the bad ones in my lunch box. And I just lost interest after two pieces, so I gave up. And ate a biscuit instead. *Sin Committed*

Informatics Practices, I just kind of got lost trying to figure out Java scriptures and commands. Netbeans isn’t that hard also. I’ll figure it out.

English proved to me what dumbeffs I go to class with. Honestly. Alright, given, everyone need not be Shakespeare personified, neither am I for that matter :P , just the way I’m not Ramanujan or whatever those math dud(e)s are, but ELEVENTH GRADE LEVEL, PEOPLE! WE DON’T BELONG TO KINDERGARTEN ANYMORE!

I’m not even going to elaborate, just that lest two people max, everyone sucked during the oral speaking test. And on stupid topics like friendship and cultural stuff. Get real!! Buy yourself some books on sexy alphabets or something that teach kids “A is for Armadillo, B is for Bellicose, C is for Claustrophobia, D is for Dextrose” or something like that.

Disappointing. Nothing else, just that. I pity my english teacher (who I now look at in a new light,*grins* <3) because she has to actually suffer through this. Day after day. I can be a snob and get over with it. Even though that’s not right, but what the hell.

Business Studies, she DRONED again! And my eyes were drooping worse than those seven dwarfs put together. I felt so tired today, especially after working my butt off, for that board, which sucked anyway. I hate it when I do something and it sucks.

Eco Club after school, first meeting today, was more like a toilet talk of some kind. The juniors just wouldn’t shut up about their washroom worries! “Ma’am, people don’t flush, people don’t close the door, there’s no toilet paper,” EWWWW-ETH!

Either that, or a whole lot of “Air, water, soil, sdjflwrdfsdfkwdhfowernwsfdsnmptasnfwe;r” Mumbo jumbo.

Thank GAAHD Mrs. R was there to quickly switch over to more conventional matters like the CII project and the Green Schools Project and stuff like that. And I got signed up for it. So I’m on (yet) another mission now, to find out ways to reduce carbon emmissions and stuff like that. YAAAY!

All the way back home, I felt like I was coming down with Viral fever or something. Wait, that I’ve been feeling since the last two days. Germs apparently, love me.

I, on the other hand, try and attempt resistance as much as the tenacity in me permits me to.

Oh yeah, I also wrote a bit of fiction for my “Cliff-Hangers” section on the blog, during entrepreneurship. Which I will be putting up soon enough. :)

Received a text saying no school tomorrow due to the death of some minister. I don’t prefer politicians anyway.

Visited some lame exhibition, but the best part was the drive in the car, with the rain pouring furiously outside, and Death Cab in my ears. *swoons*

And here I am, once again, typing away, clutching at my throat for relief that I know’s not gonna visit me soon. Drinking lemon tea, pining for Rum tea and cheesecake, (which is going to happen tomorrow!) and listening to Agnee’s hindi-goth stuff. Bitchin’ :D

Now, I think I’ll just go bounce on Ezra’s new funky futon that just arrived, and then Percy Jackson my night all over again :D

Experiencing “The Next Level” !

Odyssey 5.0 = Awe-Inspiring.

I don’t even have words to explain the entire experience. It was amazing, and it was *in the moment*, thus, no blog-analyzing. :)

However, a bit by bit account of whatever happened (and whatever I remember):

* Woke up at 7:00 am and I got freaked after hearing my own voice, because I sounded like a hoarse horse that isn’t even good at the braying or mooing, whatever it is that horses do (no offence to them), and I was supposed to be singing at Odyssey.

* Reached school, had a run through of the entire performance, attended the PTM.

* (I’ve GOT to mention this, lol) Mrs. Koeli Dey, my english teacher said “Never in my teaching have I had more pleasure in teaching a student like her. I go to XI C1 just to teach her, and I miss it when she’s not there because she’s pulled out for practice for fests and things like that. And those days, I just don’t feel like attending class. She’s so well-behaved and …….” Well, I could go on, like she did, for ten-fifteen minutes. :D

And I haven’t been that happy in my entire school life of thirteen years. (Ok, maybe I have.) So make that at least in the last seven years. Since I began middle school. Seriously. That, and meeting people today. (Which I’ll come to.)

* Went over to the other side to Vidya Mandir and waited while my tummy did the mini heebie-jeebies. And this time, I was so excited to be singing “Chal Diye” and drumming Toxicity. (And I don’t know how many times I must’ve mentioned that on this blog here, thank you fellow sharkians for keeping up with me!)

* Delivered what felt like an amazing performance. Gaahd, especially the hindi song. My voice was just what I wanted it to be, and they LOVED it. At least, that’s what’s the response I got :D

And that was the second thing that made me happy today. I felt alive.

* Meeting Sambit, who like an idiot missed our song. But what the hell :)

* Watched Nagarjun and the other two pop n’ lock better than (insert name of a great pop n’ locker, lol.)

* Got wet waiting for passes, in the rain of course. Oh yeah, there was the whole running to Kookie Jar to get a chocolate boat before that :)

Third thing. I’m on a roll.

* Fashion show. Looking at half of them that looked like weird sluts. Yeah, from my school itself. Pragya looked REAL cute! :D (Special mention for her!)

* After which we got kicked out of the auditorium. And then I was on the road again, hunting for a pass for Agnee’s guest performance and the prize distribution. And I got so bugged during that period. Asking all kinds of random people for passes, I finally chanced upon Sunayan, Arpit, Meghdut and Radhika laughing about some kickass fantasy of Arpit’s, (probably).

* There was a ton of “Arpit you’re SO mine” from Radhika and myself, more from her, since I was just getting into the whole groove. And then we were sitting having a gala time in the prayer hall.

* Have Arpit introduce me to his acquaintances as his girl. LOL. And then mentioning that Im a one of a kind Pretty Alien. If there was such a thing. HAHA. Funn, I tell you.

* Agnee. GAAAHD-forsakingly-AMA-ZING! Hindi goth music.. Sheesh, they were SO good. Click here to visit their website for free downloads of their music.

* Bugging Arpit to sit with me during their little concert even though he was getting screwed by the committee members.

* Lead Guitar (Agnee) KOKO! AAAWWWESSSOME!

Unbelievably Wonderful.

Do leave your comments, as to what Odyssey 5.0 was for you this year. Especially if you’re from Birla High!

Thursday, The Thirtieth

Since I didn’t attend school in the past two days (Tuesday: Odyssey Keys, Wednesday: Odyssey Pixel + a hell lot of fun doing some work or the other/ band pratice) my brain wasn’t really feeling upto anything today either.

I had the first period off because well, the others had math, and I have a way with numbers ;) . So I spent that period cutting photographs of Stanford and Harvard and Berkely for the outside board. Which is to be put up on Monday, and the topic for my group’s Bizarre Food Habits, because of which I am now more learned after having researched freaks who actually eat hair and skin and their own urine and what not. EWW.

Entrepreneurship after that, which I spent writing my Barney Stinson blog post because I was already done with my question answers for chapters 6 & 7. Recess was spent singing Happy Seventeen to two of my classmates, one of which had a very yum cake.

Which eventually gave me a sugar rush as I just couldn’t fight the temptation. Also, apart from the pieces of cake and milk and cucumber, I haven’t had anything today :D

Economics I haven’t attended in a long time, and today I didn’t even want to because I was missing my graph book and my statistics text book and Mrs. R’s a little too strict and particular where that’s concerned. Eco was fifth anyway, before that we had double Accountancy. And lo and behold, Mrs. R walks into the class in the third period itself, feeling good about herself, and Aanchal and I run downstairs to get a release slip to escape the class. Which we didn’t acquire within time.

Nonetheless, I made a very pretty, neat graph. And Mrs. R signed me up for a debate on the 16th of August. :)

Mrs. M came in looking really hassled and dictated a register long page of stuff related to Petty Cash Books, and I just got bored copying and left for band practice.

Which, after reaching the music room, we realised that we couldn’t practice because the juniors needed the instruments and equipment for their music competition or something. So the three of us went to the AVR and watched that instead.

There was a lot of jumping into the school elevator, packing/unpacking the guitars, amps etc in between. And we also kind of managed to give the middle school a performance of the songs we’re playing at Odyssey. They were crap because my ‘borrowed’ drumsticks sucked, and the processor magically got unplugged in the middle. So there was just the Toxicity lead and weird drumming going on.

And then the Looney Tunes (the guy teachers who help us out with the music) stayed back and gave us pointers with the vocals and keyboard for Jabran’s hindi song, Chal Diye, which by the way, if you’re reading this, you’ve GOT to listen to.

I laughed like crazy when one of those guys, whose name is also the name of a hot guitarist Oodler was completely in love with, sang the chorus of the song with his weird Bengali/Hindi pronunciations. Even Pritam, the apparently VERY hot drummer, did. And he’s another character. Wait, I’ll do a post on them later. And link this page then.

After they left, we still continued practicing for sometime while the school caretaker guy tried to whoosh us out of the AVR. And I just kept running around with the mic and singing. I thrive. :D

Suddenly, Oodler and I smelt smoke and screamed. The adaptor attached to the keyboard caught fire from the inside as the misty white smoke slowly made it’s way out of the tiny box. If only the smoke’d been purple. We’d have probably started singing “Smoke On The Water” if the smell hadn’t begun asphyxiating us.

I remembered then that my dad was supposed to be leaving for Chennai then, so I called him. Spoke to Syd after that. And arranged things for the prom (to be held in September, Venom by the way. For more information, call me: 9903078565, or FB message by clicking here.)

Drove (more like got driven) to Braganza with Oodler and Aanchal to get the guitars fixed and purchase lead wires, plectrums ( I LOVE JimmyD ones!), strings and what not. Went to Southern Avenue after that and realized my mom was wearing my new earrings that have fire on them, hard to explain, I know. So, I screamed and complained. Du-h.

Listened to a good deal of indie and alternative music in the car. That’s like my favorite part about sitting in the car.

Gawd, this is getting stretchy now. And I just consumed a bar of Nestle Milk Chocolate, and am currently anticipating the rush I am about to get. I have to finish with my Accountancy work, have my second round of tuitions tomorrow.

x EdgyShark x

P.S. I *NEED* Rum tea. :( my throat hurts and its in no condition to win the hearts and marks of the judges where the vocals are concerned. GIMME RUM TEA!

Viva Las Gay-gas

As I entered the familiar gates of the boy’s section of Birla High, I felt a light tingle that today could just about turn out to be a fun day.

And it did.

Right from the screaming and cheering during the various events, getting lost in the corridors and teasing the guys about being gay with each other, which some of them actually were, to meeting Vora (finally!), wasting time with Sunayan, Anisha, Neha and Pratik, and then finally bugging the hell out of Arpit and Meghdut, ’twas pretty good.

However, being in the boys’ school corridors was part of one of my worst nightmares. Don’t even ask, but if you are a girl, you’ll understand why the smell of fresh meadows pleases you. I guess guys don’t have smelling powers. Eww, I just wanted to run out and get some fresh air. There’r just TOO many guys around you. Although the ambience is relaxed and the teachers aren’t mental like the ones we have. They’ll see one girl with a guy and make an unnecessarily huge deal.

And Ms. Nain’s got to stop having fun with the announcement speakers. I mean, every half an hour she’ll just want to be on the mic and wherever you are, her splendid baritone (Which by the way, Ms. Bose’s better at!) will boom throughout the campus. “Coordinators please see to it that discipline is maintained, there’s far too much noise above my block.” “Teachers please report blah blah.” “Someone please get me a hotdog.”

Alright, she didn’t say that last thing, but she might as well have.

Here are some pictures to prove/justify the title of this blog post. Also, a video after that, showing the love Meghdut and Arpit have for each other. And it’s not a joke. I’m not even trying to be funny. They’ve been together seven years now. Which is a long time. But they still haven’t been able to convert Sunayan. Lol.

DSC03960

DSC03944 DSC03945

So yeah, that’s that. Also, I forgot to mention, I had my photography competition today, and the judge looked like a splitting image of Carlos (Gabrielle’s husband) from Desperate Housewifes. Not that I watch DH.

DSC03913

All in all, had a very good, gay (HAPPY!) time :D

x EdgyShark x

P.S. Sorry folks/fellow Sharkians, the video you’ve all been waiting for is, I’m afraid delayed because my camera’s behaving weirdly and refuses to switch on. I’m all for the apologies and will let you know soon when it’s up! :)
